About Volker
Born in Lutherstadt Wittenberg in 1981, Volker Fuhrwerk can look back on experience in excellent restaurants in Germany and abroad. After training at the Maritim Hotel in Magdeburg, he discovered his love of fine dining with Michelin-starred chefs such as Johann Lafer, Mathias Buchholz and Jens Rittmeyer. After spending time abroad in Portugal, he became head chef at the Schlosshotel im Grunewald in Berlin for the first time. There he not only cooked for guests in the Vivaldi restaurant, but also heads of state in the Federal Chancellery. His connection to nature and his love of regional produce then drew him from the big city to the countryside at the Ole Liese. Here, after a year and a half, he cooked his way to his first Michelin star at Restaurant 1797 with fruit and vegetables from his own garden and fish and meat from Schleswig-Holstein. Gut Panker and Ole Liese provide the perfect setting for his dishes, which are inspired by nature and the season. Volker M. Fuhrwerk has been cooking together with Philipp Jeß on NDR Schleswig-Holstein Magazin since 2015. His cookbook "Meine Küche – neue deutsche Kochkunst" was published by Wachholtz Verlag in May 2019.
Since 2023, Volker Fuhrwerk has been responsible for company catering at Provinzial Nord Brandkasse in Kiel.
